Know a little about this artisan:
I am a self taught artisan originally from Chicago Illinois but now live in the small town west of Chicago name East Dundee home of Haeger Pottery. I’ve been sewing by hand and machine for over 40 years and making art using many different mediums. Sewing has been a favorite of mine for a long time, in the mid 70’s I made soft sculpture dolls and toys for an up scale craft boutique on Broadway in Chicago and in the late 70’s & 80’s I published in Stitch N Sew magazine for a series of soft sculpture dolls designed. In the 90’s I was given recognition by Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago and the Chicago Art Institute for visual art Instruction in the Chicago public school. Since the middle 90’s I have been creating in other fields of art such as mosaic, acrylics, recyclable art and the never ending love for sewing! My sewing and creative range when I sew are from one extreme to the next. One day I can make a soft pastel piece and the next a strikingly unusual piece with bright or dark colors, you can depend on me to bring different and unusual pieces to ones collection.
Each piece I make no matter what it is has much time and thought put into it. I favor and appreciate the way sewing was done in the past about 80 plus years ago, by hand. I collect antique needled linens that have been sewn by women that had skills far superior than anything you see today. I really like the idea of something I have made being cherished in some ones collection to be seen for generations ahead.
Many times when I am in the middle of creating a little character I bust out in laughter because I can see the character developing and it’s not always the cutest, many times they are funny looking or pitiful but I keep needling along and come up with what you are seeing on ebay, I do hope you like them.
