It is a solid wood chest in a beautiful dark mahogany/cherry finish, accented with antique brass corners, hinges and clasps. I purchased these trunks for both of my daughters for Christmas, and am so happy with them, and my girls absolutely love them. Their American Girl dolls fit perfectly inside, and there is plenty of room for the dolls' clothes and accessories. It is a terrific addition to their American Girl doll collection. Nice quality trunks like these are hard to find in stores at a decent price, and we do our best to keep our prices low. Details of the trunk include wooden cross straps which is reminiscent of old steamer trunks, and a sturdy leather-like handle.
