9"jointed Mohair Steiff Mask Bear/Original Teddy1966-90
9 1/2 inch Jointed Mohair Bear 'Original Teddy' or 'Steiff Mask Bear' (They both look the same) with working Squeeker Dated from 1966-90's Up for Auction is this lovely brown mohair bear, I believe him to be an 'Original Teddy' or 'Steiff Mask Bear'. His description is the same as a 'Original Teddy' bear in my book called "The Teddy Bear Encyclopedia", by Pauline Cockrill on page 128. He is measures approx just over 9 1/2 inches tall (25cm) from the tip of his ears to his feet, these bears were also available in Caramel and Beige ( I will shortly be listing a Beige 'Original Teddy' so please keep a look out for him!) He is made of lovely soft light brown mohair and has a tiny bit of balding to the top of his right leg and on his left ear and a tiny bit of light balding to his back and tummy. There is a small hole in the centre of his left the ear where a button once was, (please see photo). He also has his original brown shield-shaped stitched nose and the inverted V shaped mouth. He is 5 way jointed bear and his body, arms and legs feel quite firm when squeezed (I think the stuffing is possibly synthetic.) His muzzle is made from clipped mohair and is heart shaped. He has his original light brown and black pupil eyes and original Draylon/Felt? pads, which are in perfect condition. He has an original working squeeker in his tummy which sounds so cute when pressed! He does not have any tags on him but I believe him to be a 'Original Teddy' or 'Steiff Mask Bear' (There was another bear for auction on Ebay which ended on 16th April that is identical to this one, Item Number: 1902134537746 that was described as a 'Steiff Mask Bear' , the only difference between the two that I can see is that my bear measures 9 1/2 inches and has no button or label only a hole where a button has been and the other one measures 15 inches tall and does have a button and label in the same place). He has a very serious look on his face but he is really cute and would make a wonderful addition to anyone's collection or be perfect to start a collection off for that someone special!
